You can't get more modern that Richard Nicoll's AW 11 show. Far from the the vintage, 70's, mad men styled trends we're seeing all over the catwalk at the moment, Nicoll went for something much more minimalist with edgy tailoring and blocky shapes: very subtle, very understated. The colour palette was very natural with transcending from beige and cream through to corals and pinks before petrol black. Fabrics also created drama - sheer flowing trails and sleeves contrasted with patent shiny body's and soft bombers.
What was really striking about the whole show was the movement, clearly Nicoll has taken his time over the way each piece moves as the model walks. Many short dresses had floor length trails flowing out behind models and trousers were all lose and airy.
Nicoll has definitely created a different show, minimalist and a refreshing change to the feminine shapes we're used to seeing.
