Basildon Park

So, today my sister, mother and I visited my favourite place, Basildon Park. Its a lovely big National Trust house, and definitely my favourite. This may be because it plays the part of Netherfield house in my favourite film, Pride and Prejudice (2005 version avec Keira Knightley and the gorgeous Matthew Macfadyen, I know it isn’t as true to the book as the BBC version, and I have read the book, but  I just love it, and don’t you prefer the lovely Mr Macfayden as Mr Darcy?) but it also might be because its about 15 mins away from where I live and I've been so often its like a part of home. image

It’s such a lovely place, although i must say, I wish that the rooms were as they are in Pride and Prejudice. However, there is a wonderful 50s kitchen which, incidentally, is my favourite kitchen! Just look at the beautiful Kenwood Chef and fabrics just laying on an old clothes horse.

The other lovely thing about National Trust houses now is that you’re allowed to take pictures, this is the best thing to have happened since sliced bread! It does feel quite wrong though, I feel as if any second someone's going to come and tap me on the shoulder, escort me out and wipe the memory on my camera. The main advantage of this is that i can pretend I'm Keira Knightley …P1260864bP1260963c

…or Jane Bingley (of course I would have preferred Elizabeth Darcy but they didn’t have a massive poster of him!!!)

Hey, I remember stumbling across your blog ages ago and following you, but suddenly saw you come up on my news feed today (I'm not the best at keeping track of the blogs I follow!)

Absolutely loving the photos of you. Keira Knightley is just beautiful in Pride and Prejudice. Some family members actually used to live in Basildon, which I'm guessing is near Basildon Park! Would love to visit there, everything is so quaint and beautiful :-)
I know what you mean about being afraid to take photos, I was exactly the same when I went to the Tate Modern in London!

Again, lovely photos, especially of the kitchen! Lovely blog and I will make more of an effort to follow it!

Aww, that's the sweetest comment! Thank you very much! You should visit sometime, its a lovely place, although I think I'm quite biased. Lol, I think it's probably my lack of posting rather than your that's the problem. But I will try to post more regularly from now on. Thank you again :) xxx
