Audrey Hepburn in Sabrina

image

I love this film, I recently got it on dvd in a big Hepburn collection I ordered, I love Audrey in this, now I don't want to cause a fuss, I know how much everybody loves Audrey, me included, but in some of her films (breakfast at tiffany's included) her acting is a bit samey and she's not very believable. I think she's much better in her earlier films.
Sabrina really is a wonderful film, Audrey plays a young, naive chauffer's daughter with a huge crush on the Larrabee playboy (William Holden) but he doesn't notice she exists until she's shipped off to Paris and comes back with less hair and more Gaultier .
I know there must be dozens of screenshots from Sabrina so I wanted to share some candid's from the set that were in a gallery on my dvd.

Dolce & Gabanna Spring Summer 2012

Parties — Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2012

Well, the D&G show was hardly breaking fashion boundaries this year but I think instead they created something really beautiful. Sticking to classic shapes, tiny fifties waists, flowing skirts and inspiration from vintage swimwear teamed with vegetable prints and a whole lot of jewels the circle skirt dresses looked like the result of the Roman Holiday wardrobe if the costume designer had met Mary Katrantzou.

The whole thing was very reminiscent of hot Sicilian nights, imagine strolling around Italy on one hot summers evening in a flowing sheer eggplant print dress - that's right, I said eggplant print.

Ralph Lauren Spring Summer 2012

"Back in 1974, Ralph Lauren costumed a big-screen version of The Great Gatsby, starring Mia Farrow (as Daisy Buchanan) and Robert Redford (as the titular Gatsby). Lauren’s designs were a huge success. They sparked a craze for fluttery bias-cut tea dresses and kindled a longing for vintage at a time when that meant ratty old clothes. The movie’s style that Lauren created quickly became as much a part of the iconography of the Ralph Lauren brand as it was perfectly emblematic of boom-time Jazz Age America where financial cataclysm was lurking just around the corner." - vogue.com

Orla Kiely Spring Summer 2012

Pretty pretty - girly girly perfection from Orla Kiely...as always. I love all the little details - scalloped edges on mustard cardigans, dotted contrast edging on collars, little frilly ankle socks paired with killer heels, golden buttons, white piping on a pretty peach skirt, and obviously the signature stunning prints - a flurry of beautiful feminine dressing that would flatter literally everybody (excluding the 100 stone ladies you see on reality programs - then again I'm sure a nice straw hat and a pretty blouse couldn't hurt). If I could afford Orla Kiely, I'm sure I'd spend most of my days wearing her.
